It’s Been 120 Days…

… since my last day in the office. The routine of getting up, making some coffee, and starting the work day has now become regular, and I’ve grown used to it. It will be difficult to eventually go back in the office on a regular basis. Nothing is regular anymore.

It’s quite hard to believe that it’s mid July and the world (more specifically our country) is such a mess. (I suppose it was inevitable considering the current management.)

I’ve been fortunate to still have a job that I can do from home, and I’ve been fortunate to have access to national forests for recreation. I miss dining out occasionally, but not so much. And honestly, I didn’t do much before the pandemic. Hung out with some people every once in a while, but not that often. I guess I was practicing social distancing before it was really a thing. I suppose that’s the reason why I love solo backpacking.

So overall, it hasn’t been that bad. I can’t complain. My daughter’s schooling, on the other hand, is a whole other issue that I’m not getting into here.

Lately, I’ve discovered I don’t miss Facebook much. It’s such a wasteland of toxicity. The most innocent of posts and comments brings out the trolls. It makes my blood boil as I read the nonsense.

Instead, I’ve stopped my facebook notifications on my phone (haven’t deleted the app yet… yet.)

I still like it for outdoor research and ideas. I try to stay out of the comments. It’s all people bitching about 1) other people leaving camping areas a mess or 2) people having illegal campfires. You wouldn’t believe the vitriol.

Instead, I waste my time on Instagram posting pretty photos and videos and stay away from the politics.
